Aretha C. Smith
Aretha's professional writing career spans 10 years. With her education in information management she has worked in a variety of settings, even managing a couple of government libraries. Her career experiences have enabled her to do everything from cataloguing library books using the Dewey Decimal Classification System and Library of Congress Subject headings to writing library policies and procedures manuals.
Currently employed in large university, she works as a training and information specialist coordinating and delivering training sessions. With a background in technical writing she creates user-end documentation and training manuals. She is also an administrator for a few of the programs within her department, including a Wiki program.
Also a health and fitness enthusiast, she has been a freelance writer for over a year, and has written numerous articles on health, fitness and weight loss. She is the author of over 170 web-published articles.
Her passion for writing began at the tender age of nine. Growing up in a home without a television sparked her love of books and the written word. "I spent long hours in the bookmobile and between the dusty aisles of the school library reading the backs of book jackets," she says. So fascinated with how a series of words strung together could create a story and a world of characters, she decided early on that writing was something she wanted to do. Over the years she has written numerous poems, short stories and has even tried her hand at few novels. She is excited to report that she recently sold one of her novels which will be published next year.
